Went thru a redesign and it looks modern chic and cool vibe. Hotel is a revolving door if staff and management and senior management constantly moved the goal posts and nearly impossible to live up to his expectations.

Pros Location, staff, guests, some autonomy. Cons Micro management cheap, tyrant owner with shady business practices. Was this review helpful? Yes No. Report Share. Very stressful place to work. No vacation No sick days The owner is a greedy person And the place itself is falling apart Not recommended to work there. Seems like all the managers are just waiting for another manager to make a mistake so they can let everyone know about it! The schedule changed 3 times per week by different managers not even in the Front Desk department!!!

Everyone was all over the place and none of them had any communication, it was so unprofessional. Pros Flexibility. Cons Everything else! I learned a lot about customer service while working at the porto vista hotel.

I gained experience as a valet, bellman, and shuttle driver working in the areas of Little Italy and downtown San Diego. Liked: Cleanliness. Disliked: Amenities. I liked that they used to have a restaurant for brunch. And it was near by cute shops. Response from Porto Vista Management on Jan 8, Thank you for your review Ana! We appreciate you! Jan 3, Hotel location is great. Awesome staff. Valet parking they called it however no other option is available. Also, bathroom has no counter space, just the sink and no space for ladies to place their many bottles!!

Hi Alexander, Thank you for your feedback! The only other option would be street parking. We appreciate you staying with you and hope to see you again! Jan 2, When we went to check in the room was completely dirty. Very dissatisfied. Thank you for your feedback! Unfortunately, system and electronic issues do happen and we apologize that happened with your reservation.

We do still have our shuttles, but due to the pandemic and rising numbers, we are not offering the service as of yet. We hope to have everything back to normal soon. Great place simple but comfortable. We hope to see you again! Great, clean room in a perfect location in Little Italy.

Response from porto vista on Dec 28, Dec 24, The place needs updating. Response from porto vista on Dec 24, It was a great stay! Only needed it for the night so it worked out well, shower was great! My only complaint in the dang bed! It is way to loud! They need better bed foundations!!

Dec 22, This property was a little misleading. Also, the staff seemed little over worked abs frustrated. Response from porto vista on Dec 23, Dec 19, Served it's purpose. Response from porto vista on Dec 20, The location of this hotel is great if you want to stay in Little Italy. You are an easy walk to coffee, restaurants, the Piazza etc. More aggressive walkers can easily reach the SD waterfront or even the Gaslamp District. Give it a try!

Dec 15, That they had A breakfast restaurant right in the hotel made it easy and convenient. It was very good as well and the sever was super sweet.

Response from porto vista on Dec 15, Dec 14, This is a very nice location to stay at, great view from the balcony. Great location to walk to the harbor, restaurants or bars. Nice and quiet and very clean. Response from porto vista on Dec 14, Dec 13, The place was gross and smelled bad! Honestly the staff is what makes the stay.

They are friendly and all around amazing. Thank you. Just ok, but great location. Dec 10, The restaurant staff was very friendly food selections very poor food was not consistent with the expectations from other services in hotel.

Dec 9, Beware if you're traveling with a pet. I booked a deluxe king room with balcony and city view. Prior to my stay I made numerous attempts to reach someone at the hotel to confirm pet policies, etc. Overall the atmosphere is stylish and hip, if lacking polish. Broadway Pier is about a minute walk from the hotel. The Gaslamp Quarter , a historical neighborhood home to nightlife and entertainment venues, is less than a minute drive away.

There are three beaches within a minute drive including Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, and La Jolla Shores, and the airport can be reached in less than 10 minutes by car or public transportation.

Rooms decor at the Porto Vista Hotel varies. Most rooms have some modern accents, such as floor-to-ceiling photo murals, and some of the standard rooms are more stylish and renovated, with blue headboards, orange chairs, and zebra wood veneer furniture. The color palette in many rooms is plainer, with whites, browns, and more dated laminate wood furnishings. Guests report occasional maintenance issues, and rooms start at a cozy square feet.

Upgrading to a suite gets you a sofa bed. Rooms have outdoor hallways, and some rooms get noise from the restaurant or rooftop. The Glass Door, located on the fourth floor, has great views of the bay, an outdoor terrace, an upscale American menu with local, seasonal ingredients, and a weekend brunch.

A limited breakfast only two options can be included in some room rates. The hotel has valet parking for a fee and a free airport shuttle. Pets can be accommodated for a fee. There is an Internet corner with one computer and a printer, and a banquet and boardroom are available for private events.
