The Urban Tech Hub of the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute at Cornell Tech is a new venture in New York City that generates applied research, fosters an expanding tech ecosystem, and cultivates the next generation of leaders in urban technology.

The Ruch Faculty Exchange Program increases faculty collaboration between the Cornell campuses and the Technion by funding travel for joint research projects and workshops that span both campuses. Technion students can apply for funding to live in New York City and work hands-on with Cornell Tech faculty. The program connects Jacobs Institute faculty seeking short-term research assistance with talented students from the Technion.

This day academic and cultural trip offers students an opportunity to learn about the growing economy of innovation in Israel. The Jacobs Institute encourages Technion faculty to spend sabbatical time on the Cornell Tech campus collaborating with Cornell Tech-based faculty.

The Jacobs Technion-Cornell Dual Master of Science Degrees with a Concentration in Connective Media are open to ambitious students who have a fascination with people-driven technologies and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. While formal academic backgrounds in science or engineering are preferred, they are not required.

We will take into account personal or professional experience in mathematics, economics, physical sciences, or other quantitative disciplines. By developing the new Urban Tech Agenda for NYC, Rit and the Urban Tech team will be doing a deep dive into how technology can improve the lives of New Yorkers with real policy solutions and bold ideas to create a better path forward. The Urban Tech Hub is already having an impact, with students working on projects focused on COVID recovery in New York City and curated monthly public workshops where experts are discussing the most pressing issues in the industry.

The initiative will focus on issues big and small, tackling everything from institutional infrastructure, municipal operating systems, and procurement processes to the ways technology can address issues in city government.
