Thanks for your feedback. I have been using this product for 18 months - in the past, the office sends me an invoice for approval and i'm able to save it with a recommended PDF format. Now when i go to to save the file, the save window opens recommending the HTML format. The sender told me they recommend Chrome - i installed Chrome and when i went to save the file, the save window opened with recommending the HTML format, i selected to display all files and put a PDF extension on the file name and saved.

I don't think Edge is 'recommending' anything. It simply shows the file name the sender gave the file before sending it to you. The filename is in fact optional, so there doesn't actually have to be one, and any filename it does have needs not have any relation to the file's content.

It now shows that its a PDF file but it will not open. You can't change a file's type simply by changing its extension. It will still be the same type of file as it was before. This would normally be a web browser, but because an HTML file only consists of text, you can open it with a text editor like Notepad. If you change a received file's extension, Windows will try and open it with the application registered to open files with that extension.

Use File Explorer to locate the file in your downloads folder? What happens? For interest's sake, try also opening the file with Notepad. In most cases, the beginning of the very first line will give you an indication of the file type. My main office sends me an invoice to approve for payment in a 'pdf' format. I'm able to add the 'pdf' to the file name and save it, but when I go to open it, it states "We can't open this file".
